Pain Management
Chronic Pain Management Program
There is an intense level of public interest, research, and increasing recognition of pain as a primary problem in and of itself. Historically taught as an important symptom of disease, a new realization in the medical community now identifies pain as the only real problem for many patients. Pain often is the disease process, rather than a mere symptom of an ongoing disease process. Within this area, interventional chronic pain management program is the discipline of using minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat pain.
Interventional Pain Management
Interventional Pain Management is the use of precision, state of the art techniques for percutaneous treatment of painful conditions. These are effective needle and probe-using techniques which minimize patient discomfort while avoiding many surgical and anesthetic risks and expenses. Our approach maximizes efficiency and improves outcomes while also providing valuable diagnostic information which can guide and reinforce multidisciplinary efforts.
Pharmacological Pain Management
Pharmacological Pain Management is the use of medications administered on a chronic basis to treat pain problems. These medications can include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents, narcotics, seizure medications, and other types of medications. Our approach individualizes the pharmacological management of our patient’s chronic pain problems. Patients are assessed for appropriateness for certain types of pharmacological therapies. Counseling is provided to help the patient understand the difference between physical dependence and the biopsychosocial disease of addiction if chronic narcotic therapy is being considered. Appropriate referral for evaluation and treatment of addiction, when it is suspected or identified, is undertaken.
DRUG FREE Pain Management
The revolutionary new SCS WaveWriter technology allows many people with serious chronic pain to live virtually pain free without drugs.
